The Holy Family in Egypt

While I was planning Christmas details and working on our tours to Egypt today, I thought of the Saint Sergius and Bacchus Church in Coptic Cairo. The church was erected at the center of the remains of Roman fortress of Babylon and above a crypt said to be a place where he Holy Family hid during their 3-year journey from Bethlehem to Egypt. This is one of the many historic sites we visit on our March 2026.
